NZ TEMPERATURES

March - September, range 30°F - 70°F.

FIREARMS TO NEW ZEALAND

There is no problem bringing your own firearms into New Zealand, with the exception of pistols. We also offer the use of our firearms free of charge. You require a firearm import permit, obtainable from www.police.govt.nz. A fee of $25 N.Z. is required.

Prior to coming to NZ, hunters should fax their firearms application to the airport police at their arrival point into New Zealand. This will be either Auckland or Christchurch. Please check with your travel organiser as to whether you will require a visa.

EQUIPMENT

Bring standard hunting equipment fitable for October/November hunting conditions in the states, with high emphasis on boots and rain gear.

Below is a list of items which we recommend you bring with you, for your wilderness quest:

. Waterproof rain coat and leggings
. Waterproof boots
. Warm hunting jacket or coat
. Wool / fleece pants
. Wool / fleece shirts
. 4 x Woollen socks
. 2 x long-johns / vest
. Woollen hat
. Waterproof gloves
. Day pack
. Binoculars
. Camera
. Personal items

Please don't hesitate to bring additional items, as they can be stored at your river lodge.

BEST HUNTING TIMES

Most hunting adventures are from March - September.

RIFLE

We provide rifles and ammunition at no extra cost for hunters who like to travel light and avoid getting a New Zealand gun permit at the airport. We offer a 7 mm Remington Magnum rifle and a Browning semi-automatic shotgun.

The calibre of the rifle you bring should be one that you are familiar and comfortable with. Calibres from 308 - 300 Win mag are the most popular. Forty rounds of ammunition should be adequate for sighting-in and hunting.
